Stage 1: Brainstorming
Criteria
Students should begin their brainstorming by writing or typing ideas as jot notes on a blank paper or digital document. This will help capture multiple/alternative ideas quickly. Often one idea helps develop another. Write everything down, do not critique or criticize anything ideas at this point. This rough work must be submitted as part of your development process.
Stage 2: Treatment
Criteria
- This is an individual assignment to help you develop a creative movie trailer 1-1.5 minutes maximum
- The idea must be school appropriate (all content and language)
- Treatment must be completed in full sentences and proofread for proper spelling, grammar and punctuation

Complete the following for your Treatment:
1. Working Title:
A working title is commonly used in filmmaking during the development and pre-production stages. It is temporary/tentative title of a project that is often changed once the film is further developed.
2. Genre:
These are categories for films that are commonly based on similarities in the narrative and/or the emotional response by the target audience. Film genres parallel literary genres. Some film genre examples are: comedy, horror, thriller, drama, sci-fi etc.)

3. Target Audience:
This is group of people defined specifically by age, gender, interests etc. Why will your audience be interesting in this film? Be specific (ie: characters, plot twist, emotional attachment to characters, suspense of story)
4. Story Outline (2-3 sentences for each act)
Act 1: Beginning (Who, What, Where)
Act 2: Middle (Conflict)
Act 3: End (Resolution)
5. Tagline - Can be thought of as the big idea of the overall film (ie: a lasting message/impression/emotion):
6. Main Characters
- provide details on the backstory of each character
- key points to move the story forward
- what is the importance of the role of each character within in the story

Requirements:
- Edited using Premiere Pro CC
- Total Duration 1 minute including title, and all credits (No shorter and no longer)
- Name of the movie (ie: Wizard of the Castle) and title of the episode (make up an interesting title).
- Name of the TV-channel, digital platform (ie: Netflix, Crave, Disney Channel, Nickelodeon…)
- Release date (you can include a specific date, just the month,”this summer” or you can say “coming soon”).
- Include at least three sentences or words such as ‘Their Biggest Adventure”, “A Challenge she never Imagined, “A story never yet told.” (This can be visual text graphics on-screen OR Voice-over narration to briefly set up the premise of the film)
- Use only the most dramatic, exciting, engaging and/or funny footage of the movie for your trailer to ensure you deliver the emotion of the genre.
